FAQs about our wheelchair accessible accommodation

Not all wheelchair accessible accommodation is the same. That’s why we’ve considered the questions you might have to make it easy to know exactly what you can expect.

And if you can’t find the information you need here, please don’t hesitate to contact our friendly team with your questions or accommodation requests.

Are the car parks wide enough to allow wheelchairs or medical equipment to be easily removed?

Yes. We’ve recently widened our carparks and our wheelchair accessible rooms are located at the end of the building to provide you with extra space.

Is the reception easy to access for those with mobility issues?

The door into our reception area is wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair and our reception staff can provide assistance if required.

What width are the doors into the room and bathroom? How easy are they to open?

The doors into our accessible rooms and their bathrooms are 900mm wide and feature lever handles 1030mm from ground level. The external door uses a keycard to unlock, but unlike some hotel/motel rooms, there is no automatic door closer to hinder your movement.

How easy is the patio area to access? Is there a lip or step that might impede a wheelchair? Is there room to easily turn around?

Access to your 2.4×3.2m private courtyard is through sliding glass doors. These do have a lip for the door tracks, but we can provide a suitable wheelchair ramp for ease of access. We can also move chairs and tables on request to allow more space for a wheelchair to move around.

Are light switches and power outlets at wheelchair accessible height?

Light switches throughout the room are 1100-1200mm from the floor. The remote control for the air conditioner is mounted on the wall at 1500mm, but can be removed and placed in a more accessible location if needed, while all power outlets are at an accessible height.

Is it easy to request shower chairs or other aids when making the booking?

It’s best to contact our office directly to discuss any specific requirements you might have. You can call on +61 8 8536 3311 or send an email.

What are the dimensions of the bathroom and height of facilities from the floor?

The bathroom is 1900x3150mm and has a roll-in shower space with ample turning room for a wheelchair.

Fixed seat bracket – 400mm, 135kg weight capacity

What is the height of the bed and is there space for a wheelchair beside them and hoists beneath them?

The top of the mattress is 550mm and our spacious rooms ensure there is plenty of room either side for a wheelchair. The beds have 130mm space beneath them to accommodate a hoist, as well as flat feet to prevent the bed from moving.

Does the closet provide accessible hanging space?

The rails are 1700mm from the floor and can be reached from a seated position by most, but please don’t hesitate to ask if you require further assistance.
