Finding quality places to stay with dogs, cats or any other pet you travel with can be tricky. We know how much you love your pet, and have two dog-friendly motel rooms built especially to cater for those travelling through South Australia with their furry family members or support animals.

A cooked or continental breakfast service is available daily from 7:00-8:30am. Simply place your order by dropping the in-room form to reception or completing the online order form by 5:00pm the night before.

FAQs about our pet and dog-friendly holiday accommodation
Every pet-friendly motel is different. That’s why we’ve considered the questions you might have to make it easy to know exactly what you can expect.

Are there any pets or breeds you do not allow (such as size restrictions)?
Generally not, but we do ask what type of pet you are travelling with to approve their stay and ensure we can accommodate both their needs and that of our other guests.
Are there restrictions on how many pets are allowed in the room?
Typically we would allow up to 2 pets in your room. Please call our staff if you are travelling with more pets than this to see if we can accommodate your needs.
Are pets allowed on the furniture or beds?
To minimise wear and tear on soft furnishings, we ask that pets are kept off the beds and room seating.
Is there a bond? What happens if a pet damages the room or property?
There is a small room fee for each pet to cover additional cleaning, but no bond. Should your pet damage the property, we will add any applicable damage costs to the bill.
Is there an area to toilet pets? What are the rules around cleaning up after them?
We can provide pet-waste bags and encourage pets to be toileted in the grassed areas outside the motel (not in your private courtyard). There are also walking trails close-by where you can take your dog, but please be sure to pick up after them and dispose of their waste responsibly.
What are the rules around leashes?
Within your own room and private courtyard, a leash is not required. However, your dog must be kept on a leash or removed from the room, while your room is being serviced.
Outside of your room or private courtyard, we require dogs to be kept on a secure leash at all times while on Strath Motel grounds.
Can I leave my pet in my room unattended?
No. Your pet must be accompanied by you or a caretaker at all times.
Are there any areas around the motel that are off limits for pets?
Dogs are welcome to walk around outside your room, providing they are kept on a suitable leash at all times. The only area strictly out-of-bounds for pets are guest rooms that don’t cater for pets.
Are there any dog parks nearby?
At this time Strathalbyn does not have a dedicated off-leash dog park, but the town has many nature trails and parks where you can walk your dog on a leash. Our staff at Reception will be happy to advise the best places to walk your dog.
What happens if another guest makes a complaint about my pet?
The comfort of all our guests is our highest priority. Should another guest make a complaint about your pet, we will investigate this complaint and how it can be resolved. If you are unable to control a pet, we may be required to ask you to make alternate arrangements to move your pet off-site.
